Dear readers,
With this issue, I relaunch the Origin of Nations Magazine, which was discontinued in early 2000 - over 24 years ago! The plan is to publish this newsletter 2-3 times per annum.
A lot has been researched, written about, published and updated since that time, including three books:
As well as dozens of papers and articles with more to come. These papers are uploaded to a website under two categories:
Nations and Races (currently 15 papers)
The ‘Lost’ Tribes of Israel (10 papers)
More papers will be added and the current ones updated over time.
I seek your feedback and ideas for this newsletter as well as well thought out and researched articles. Please e-mail me at hrp11@iprimus.com.au if you wish to submit any articles for publication.
The next issue will concentrate primarily on the tribes of Israel.
Should this newsletter not be of interest to you, feel free to unsubscribe at any time.
Sincerely,

The Bible and Genetics
Writing a detailed paper explaining every aspect of genetics and racial/national identification would result in a large book. That is not necessary for the purpose of this exercise and who would read such a work anyhow? Laymen would understand a short article that simplifies and explains the major concepts and then ties this back to the Bible. Academics could not disagree with all of it as it utilises their own writings and resources. However, they would disagree with the outcomes, given its Biblical basis.
Using physical anthropological techniques and research into human biology, one finds that physical appearance is the most important determinant of race and national origin. Followed by blood groups, DNA etc. All this will be explained in the article at hand.
Visible traits are by far the most important identification and criteria for race and has always been regarded as such until recent times. But as leftist, neo-Marxist elements gradually took hold in universities and institutions of higher learning, this was forcibly changed to an idea that there is no such thing as race or distinct peoples and that it was merely a ‘social construct.’ This is basic to Marxist-Leninist ideology that the world must mix into one people which has infused itself into libertarianism, many so-called conservatives and even Creationists.
The Left rewrote the textbooks, denounced past research and reinterpreted the facts. Blood groups eclipsed physical appearance and then DNA was wrongly used for the same purpose. The same is true of recent Y chromosome research.
For instance, today geneticists look for all sorts of haplotypes (defined as a group of genes within an organism that was inherited together from a single parent”) which may be found on the Y chromosome of those subjects they are analysing. Their theory is that a signature from a common ancestor may have been left in the DNA of living descendants. But that is just a trace, not necessarily a racial study as shall be explored in this article.
If there is anyone in the Church with some background in genetics or similar, do e-mail me privately if there is a need for any amendments to this paper.
Gypsy Origins
Here is an extract from my book on the Origin of Nations which I sent to one inquirer some months ago. Further information will be added for the next edition.
Many of the Gypsies, although very mixed with Indians and others “will tell you that they descend from a part of the ancient Egyptians … The letters ‘Gyp’ in their name are indicative of this. Their ancestors were taken from Egypt in the days of the Babylonian and Persian Empires, and brought to India. From there they migrated all over the world.” [268]
The Gypsies in Spain, for example, have been known as “Gitanos” or Egyptians. [269] They came to Spain via Germany from Romany. They detest the name “Gitanos”, preferring to call themselves, “Zincals”, “Romano”, “Chai” or “Cales”. The latter is plural of the compound word “Zincals” and means “the black men”. “Chai” is a modification of the word “Chal”, referring to Egypt. [270]
Because the Assyrians took some Egyptians into captivity, they may have settled just south of Lake Van, about 170km north of Assur, in a district which became known as Musri. To this day the Gypsy language abounds with Persian and Hindi words. [271] Their blood group is also identical to northwest Indians [272] as they mixed with the Indians when living there and represent a bloodline more Indian than Egyptian. From genetic data, it seems that the Indian component of Gypsy ancestory is basically southern Indian (Dravidian) rather than northern Indian. [273] They number over 10 million throughout Europe and are known variously as Gitanos, Manush or Sinti in southern Europe; Rom in eastern Europe.
Despite the claim of some, the Gypsies are not Levites - there isn’t any proof from anthropology, history or traditions. It is a silly, man-made idea.
Origin of the Albanians
Recently I updated my research on the Tosks and Ghegs - the two ethnic groups comprising the Albanians. I think you will find tracking these peoples from their original homeland into south-east Europe fascinating.
Where are the Descendants of Ishmael?
God had promised Abraham a son, but Abraham's faith was severely tested. He listened to his wife Sarah's advice.
Abraham thought he needed to help God fulfill the promise, so when Sarah couldn't conceive, he listened to Sarah, his wife (Gen 16:1-3) and used her handmaid Hagar for this purpose (Gen 16:16). This resulted in the birth of Ishmael, which means "God hears." The people would wear gold earrings to signify this meaning of Ishmael's name (as mentioned in Judges 8:24).
Overall, the passage highlights the importance of directly hearing from God and obeying Him, rather than relying solely on human advice, even from one's spouse. It also shows how Abraham's attempt to "help" God led to complications, underscoring the need to wait patiently for God's timing and plan to unfold.
Ishmael was the son born through natural means, not the child whom God had promised. In contrast, Isaac was the child of God's promise who inherited the birthright. Yet, even though Ishmael was not the child of promise, God still blessed him with 12 sons and numerous descendants. As recorded in Genesis 16:12, the Lord described Ishmael's character in the following way: "And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren."
So where are the Ishmaelites located today? History, anthropology and tradition align with the Scriptures to provide the proofs contained in the article available for free here.
If you find any errors in this article (historical, grammatical etc), please let me know.
The Prussians Ancient Origins
The number of Prussians and the size of their territory has shrunk enormously since WW2, but there are still many millions residing in modern-day Germany.
Lewis Paton, a professor at Hartford Theological Seminary wrote an entire article published in a scholarly journal drawing many parallels between Prussians and Assyrians:
“History repeats itself, and whenever conditions arise in one age that resemble those in a previous age the is reason to believe that the outcome in both cases will be similar.” (“Assyria and Prussia,” The Hibbert Journal, Vol. 15, No. 1, p. 97)
While he believes that the Prussians are descendants of the Assyrians, I am of the belief that they descend from Abraham’s great grandson Asshur (via his concubine, Keturah). Asshur probably married an Assyrian woman (Assur was son of Shem from whom the Assyrians descended).
It is difficult to know when the understanding of German origins first came to the fore. It seems to have been something that many British-Israelites became aware of after discovering who the Israelites were in the mid to late nineteenth century. From there it is deductive reasoning based on physical appearance, mental attributes, tribal names and comparison of the promises and blessings listed in Genesis 49 and elsewhere with the nations of Europe.
Recommended reading: The Virtue of Nationalism by Yarom Hazony
I recommend a read of Yoram Hazony’s The Virtue of Nationalism. Basic Books, New York, 2018.
Some quotes from the book:
“… the presence of the Bible at the heart of this [Western] civilization has ensured that the idea of the self-determining, independent nation would be revived time and again.” (p. 17)
“… strong institutions are established where the individuals involved identify the interests and the aims of the institution as their own.” (p. 63)
“Christianity had the Hebrew Bible, with its vision of the justice of a world of independent nations. This vision never ceased to cause trouble for the idea of a universal Catholic empire, even if many Christian thinkers were hesitant to embrace the Old Testament too closely…
“The Scottish national covenants … modelled on the Jewish [ie Israel’s] national covenants of the Bible, were similarly motivated. The self-image of these Protestant peoples as rightfully independent in the face of imperial opposition was often explicitly modelled on biblical Israel’s effort to wrest its national and religious freedom from the dictates of Egyptian and Babylonian universal empire.” (pp. 22-23)
And
“the idea [is] that a ruler must serve as the protector of his people …” (p. 25)
My comment: Weak institutions come from cronyism, nepotism, favouritism, filling a job for power or money and not for God and His people. When the people are not permitted to contribute or get involved, because the leader gives opportunities to sycophants, it is weak and will not grow or last.
Ethno-nationalism – where nations and peoples maintain their identities and cultures, while respecting and cooperating with other nations, is the best system possible. Globalisation is the antithesis of prosperity and peace.
Contrast to the coming Messiah: while He will have a global government, all the nations and peoples will maintain their identities, forming a multi-cultural world instead of a mono-cultural world that the globalists are attempting.
“The fact that they [patriots] are fighting for the benefit of their people is enough for them to be willing to throw their lives into the balance for the sake of a collective such as a tribe or a nation, stirring up an ardor in their breasts that moves them to acts of bravery and self-sacrifice that no intimidation or promise of pay could elicit.” (p. 63)
“His loyalty to the nation and the fierce desire to maintain its integrity moves the individual to continue to fight in the wars decided upon by the national government, and to obey its laws and to pay it taxes all the while hoping that better leaders and policies will be forthcoming sooner or later.” (p. 80) [emphasis mine]
Recommended reading: Traced: Human DNA's Big Surprise by Nathaniel T Jeanson
Much of what Jeanson wrote dovetails in with my book on the Origin of Nations, but there are differences as he doesn't understand that Y chromosome doesn't necessarily = race.
While he doesn't trace all modern nations to Genesis 10, what he wrote is helpful.
It also confirms what I wrote: Y chromosome etc is just a tracer of an ancestor on the Dad's side. Before humans knew about genetics, DNA and Y chromosome they identified races/peoples by physical appearance.
But today's evolutionary and neo-Marxist/Globalist academics want to deny the reality of race and distort the facts to try and convince us that race is a social construct. They are lying.
“The genetic contribution of each ancestor drops by half each generation. Therefore, the genetic signals of my ancestors become very hard to detect beyond just a few generations… The DNA signal from my ancestors dops off exponentially each generation.” This is known as “signal dilution” (p. 45)
“One ethnic group can blend into another, dominate the second group’s family tree, and leave hardly a visible trace. All this is possible via small differences in reproductive rates between the two groups.” (p. 46)
He asks if the Scandinavians have a homeland in Central Asia - -“The Huns did. Perhaps the Germanics did as well.” (p. 85)
“… the ancient Persian lineage has been lost” (p. 102) – where did they go to, or were they bred out?
If he read my book and the expanded articles on the Rosh and the Baltic peoples he would know!
There is a distant genetic connection between the black Andamanese and the Tibetan/Japanese peoples. Yet, Jeanson reckons that the Andamanese “gave rise” (pp. 128-30) to them which just goes to show you that the latest research is in its infancy and is still developing.
On the other hand he states:
“… the Khoisan men of south-western Africa … seems to combine the physical features of African … and Asian … ethnicities.” (p. 130)
That is indeed the case, and the Khoisan (Bushmen) can be traced to North Africa.
“Central Asian Hepthalites harassed northern India in the A.D. 400s and 500s. So great was the activity of the Central Asians during the early centuries A.D that this era is known as the Volkerwanderung – the Great Wandering of Peoples.” (p. 151)
“Of all the ancient Near Eastern kingdoms, the Israelites kept some of the most detailed genealogical records of their origins.” (p. 161)
He admits that “The mainstream candidate for an ancient Israelite Y chromosome haplogroup, J2, is Indo-European [ie fair-skinned] in origin, not Semitic.” (p. 185)
“In the Middle East, we left the fate of the ancient Assyrians and Babylonians unresolved. We didn’t trace the heritage of the Canaanites, the Urartians, the Hurrians, the Kassites, or the Mitanni.” (p. 188)
I wish he would read my books on the subject!
“Physical clues suggest that Melanesians and Australians may have arisen from Africa; Polynesians, from East/Northeast Asia.” (p. 131)
And finally,
“In a world of nearly 4 billion males, the Y chromosomes of 99.75% of the male population have yet to be explored. With DNA sequencing technology improving at a break-neck pace, it’s only a matter of time before many more clues, many more lineages, and many more haplogroups will be revealed.” (p. 197)
Ethnicity results don’t always agree between different testing companies such as AncestryDNA etc (p. 43)
“… the most popular genetic tests do not analyze your entire DNA sequence … Currently, the scientific community possesses the complete DNA sequences from fewer than one million individuals …” (p. 44)
“For example, even though I’m of German descent, some of my DNA will be identical to that of an African. Yet the specific DNA that I share with an African, I might not share with another German …” (p. 45)
We are only at the beginning of all this research - there is an enormous amount more be undertaken, which takes time - especially with matching the research to the nations of Genesis 10 and that is going to be awfully difficult. Society's knowledge and recognition of racial and national differences has always been and will always be the criteria for racial recognition. We don't need scientists to misinform us or Y chromosome which is a tracer, though useful.
Recommended reading: Romancing the Primitive by William J. Lines
The following is extracted from Quadrant:
This book is about civilisation’s discontents, those who have idealised people outside of civilisation, imagining they lead happy, fulfilling lives at peace with one another and in harmony with the world around them. For most of this time, romanticising this ‘other’ constituted one strand in the thick rope of Western thought and reflection and knowledge of the human heart. Today, however, romanticising the primitive dominates Australian intellectual and cultural life, becoming an obsession and virtually a religion. The once single fibre now constitutes almost the entire rope.
Romancing the Primitive: The Myth of the Ecological Aborigine traces the roots of this religion, surveying primitivism — the unending revolt of the civilised against civilisation — from Hesiod to Tacitus, from the Medieval Church to Montaigne, from Rousseau to the twentieth-century Australian environment movement and its apotheosis in the works of Henry Reynolds, Bill Gammage, Bruce Pascoe, and Peter Sutton.
Romancing the Primitive defends science against superstition and liberalism against thralldom, seeking to reinstate genuine intellectual inquiry and discovery and build debate on real information. Along the way, the narrative critically visits the Uluru statement, the High Court and education in Australian schools and universities.
Author William J. Lines was born in Perth and graduated from the University of Western Australia with a degree in economics before embarking on extensive travels through Asia, Europe, and North America. He lived a while in Wales, where he renovated an abandoned Quaker chapel, and for twenty years in the United States, where he began writing. He has published eight books on history, nature, and conservation in Australia. He now lives in Tasmania with his wife and daughter.
